New path and patio for summer house in lovely garden setting

This recently finished project in Bicester, Oxfordshire saw our landscaping team return to an old client, Mr, H., to further develop his garden area. The brief was to revamp the large lawn space by adding a paved feature area in the middle of the lawn, connected by a linking pathway.

The client’s pride and joy is his summerhouse, which sits in the middle of the lawn on top of an existing paved area. The key to the project was to connect the summerhouse to the rest of the property in a way that complimented the existing paving. This had to be done without breaking the bank on high end paving slabs.

First, our team measured out the perimeter of the new paved feature area and tug up the turf. We then laid a total of 29m2 of Bradstone Textured concrete paving blocks in ‘Buff’ colour, with a mixture of square and rectangular slabs in random sizes. This created an overall effect that is far more appealing than the standard 600x600mm blocks. The slabs themselves are blended with fine white limestone chippings, giving them a natural softened appearance that belies the budget price.

The finished paving runs from the gate bordering the old patio and out into the heart of the huge lawn. As per Mr H.’s request we left a small square “island” of lawn inside the main feature area. The end result is a stylish, cohesive paved area that ties the whole garden together.
