5 days

We replaced a rotting garden fence with a new tumbled stone garden wall in Kirtlington, Oxfordshire.

The old fence ran along the back of the property, forming a boundary between the garden and an adjacent field. However, the fencing had become rotten and damaged after many years of exposure to sun, rain, and wind. Weeds had begun to encroach from the open field, with the homeowners now in need of a more robust barrier to guard against infestation. The solution was simple: remove the fence and build a traditional stone wall in its place.

The first task was to pick out the most suitable stone product from our building and wall stone range. The homeowners were keen on it matching with the buff colouring of their existing wall, which runs down the right-hand side of the garden. We suggested Bekstone’s tumbled walling stone in Golden Buff, made from reconstituted limestone in a very similar colour tone.

Our landscaping team quickly removed the old fence, taking care not to disturb the surrounding bedding. We then meticulously laid the new walling stone in a random pattern, which involved mixing and matching four different stone sizes to achieve an old-fashioned look. The rustic feel is further enhanced by the stones’ tumbled, rough-edged finish.

Overall, the project took 5 days to complete. The new wall now serves as a stylish and robust boundary, while forming an effective barrier against weeds. If you’d like a similar stone walling solution for your home or commercial property, please contact AWBS Landscaping via phone or email.
