The only way to get to this small courtyard garden was through the house - but the AWBS Landscaping were once again up to the challenge.

This recent patio renovation project in Oxford is small but perfectly formed. The homeowners needed an urgent garden SOS, with their back garden left in a rather run-down condition from previous owners.

The remit was to install a simple rectangular patio with mixed pave stones, surrounded by a three-sided flower bed. Our landscape design team suggested AWBS Sandstone paving in Desert Sand to brighten up the enclosed space with its mix of soft yellows, creams and white tones.

The installation itself posed somewhat of a challenge. The courtyard garden had no side or rear access, meaning that our installers had to carry all the equipment and products by hand through the house itself. First, we removed the debris from the old garden and dug up the shed and patio. We then laid 15m2 of the Desert Sand paving in a random pattern, Next, we installed an Aco drainage channel to deal with rainwater run-off.

The final part of the project involved zoning out a three-sided flower bed. We used three bulk bags of AWBS topsoil to leave the homeowners with a highly fertile bedding area. The end result is a neat, symmetrical patio and bedding area totally removed from the chaos of the old garden.
