Brett Lugano block paving and reclaimed sleepers transform sloping driveway
When an Oxfordshire homeowner came to us in need of new block paving for their sloping driveway and landscaping to address the steepness of the slope with new retaining walls, AWBS Landscaping was only too happy to oblige with Brett Lugano Block Paving and reclaimed railway sleepers.
A difficult sloping drive and front garden
On first surveying the property, we could see that the front garden inclined steeply down to the road. As well as offering limited parking, the sloping driveway surface was insufficient with its slippery mixture of mud and loose paving that extended on the right side of the family home to a single garage at the rear.
Added grip with Brett Lugano block paving
Once the client had informed us that they wanted a new block paved driveway, we assessed that hard landscaping was required to tackle the steep slope. As Brett Approved Installers we knew that Brett Lugano block paving – with its textured surface and lasting performance – was the perfect choice to provide excellent grip in all weather conditions. Graphite Grey coloured block paving, in mixed sizes arranged in a linear pattern, was chosen for an urban-chic look to the finished drive.
New retaining walls, steps and sandstone paving complete the project
The Sandford-on-Thames residents also requested new retaining walls around the high banked garden area at the front of the house. Our solution was to grade the site, to soften the slope of the drive, and to vertically install smart reclaimed railway sleepers to create attractive yet functional retaining walls.
In a complete landscaping project that took a total of 20 days from start to completion, we also installed new steps to the front door constructed from sandstone paving and added flower beds to extend the green area.
